SURFACE DESIGN TECHNIQUES
Instructor: Becky Burt
Dates/Times: 2-day Weekend Workshop
Saturday June 26 & Sunday June 27, 2010
Saturday 9 - 5pm, Sunday 9 – 5pm
Description: This class focuses on the methods of adding interest to the surface of metal. We will work with the rolling mill, stamping, etching, and hammer techniques as methods of adding interest to your work. We will utilize PNP to transfer designs onto metal and then use those designs as templates or pieces which can be incorporated directly into artwork. Discussions will include the addition of design elements, wear-ability, stamping to add interest, methods of adding movement, and basic stone setting using cold connections. Projects will utilize items created during the class so that students may home at least one wearable piece by the end of class. If time allows, additional projects may be made available.
