BEGINNING METALSMITHING I (6 week class)

September 28 – November 2, 2010 (6 weeks)
Description: This class is designed to teach students the foundations of metalsmithing -- sawing, piercing, filing, and joining metals with simple cold connections (no soldering will be taught in this class). Discussions will include the addition of design elements, wear-ability, stamping to add interest, methods of adding movement, and basic stone setting using cold connections. Projects will be assigned for earrings and a basic bracelet so that students will take home wearable pieces by the end of classes. If time allows, additional projects may be made available.
